Social Media Day of Action - Feb. 12, 2020

February 10, 2020

Attn: WUFA colleagues

The Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Association’s (OCUFA) Contract Faculty and Faculty Complement Committee is holding it’s annual Social Media Day of Action on Wednesday, February 12, and we hope you will participate (virtually) in the event!

The Social Media Day of Action is a day for contract faculty and allies to come together to support publicly funded education and better contract faculty working conditions. Attached is a graphic you can use on your social media platforms on the day of action and below is a list of sample tweets you can use.

This year’s day of action theme is #BrokenPromises. The Ford government is full of #BrokenPromises – to workers, to students, to communities.  Half of the faculty in Ontario universities work on short-term precarious contracts, often without benefits or any job security. The Ford government has broken its promise to not cut jobs in the public sector, including at Ontario’s universities. They have broken promises to make life affordable by making massive cuts to OSAP.

Join us on next week, on Wednesday Feb 12, by posting messages on Twitter and Facebook. Please remember to use the hashtag #BrokenPromises.

Thank you,
