GR# 0558 - Failure to Provide WUFA with Sessional Appt Letters
Collective Agreement Referenced: 2014-2017
Nature of Dispute: The University failed to provide the Faculty Association with sessional instructor appointment letters, beginning from the Fall 2014 semester, as required under the new language in Article 54:04(a) of the 2014-2017 Collective Agreement.
Result of Grievance: The grievance was settled prior to arbitration. All sessional appointment letters from Intersession/Summer 2015 and Fall 2015 will be sent to WUFA. Going forward, all sessional instructor appointment letters shall be electronically copied to the Association and where the AAU does not hire any sessional instructors in a semester, the AAU shall advise the Association within thirty (30) days of the start of the semester. In order for the departments to get used to this practice an audit function will be implemented during the 2016 calendar year, whereby the Dean’s Office for each faculty will send an email to the Association confirming all sessional appointments, and a copy will be sent to the Office of the Provost.
