Professors at the Université du Québec à Montréal are on strike Tuesday to protest against lagging contract talks.
Negotiations for a new collective agreement began in April 2014 and talks are at a standstill, the Syndicat des professeurs et professeures de l’Université du Québec à Montréal said in a press release.
The union, which represents 1,140 professors, wants the university to hire more professors and to increase salaries to bring them up to those of colleagues at other Quebec universities.
