Safety Disclosures from Students
If you receive disclosure information relating to a student’s safety plan or safety related information and wish to receive support for yourself, please contact Special Constable Service at scstservice@uwindsor.ca for assistance.
1. Confirm Safety Plan Details
If the student mentions a safety plan:
- Ask if the plan was developed with campus services (e.g., Special Constable Service). If not, refer the student to Special Constable Service for on-campus safety planning.
- Confirm whether the plan includes escort services, restricted access, or classroom accommodations.
- Ensure you understand your role in supporting the plan (e.g., attendance flexibility, assignment extensions).
2. Emergency Protocol
If the student appears to be in immediate danger or there is an imminent safety concern:
- Contact Special Constable Service for immediate assistance:
by phone at ext. 4444, or by using the Safe Lancer App (Emergency Contacts button, or Safety Toolbox button “Chat with Special Constable Service”).
3. Referral and Support
Provide the student with access to on-campus support services.
- If the student discloses sexual or relationship violence please provide them with a link or referral sheet for the Office of Sexual Violence Prevention, Resistance, and Support.
- Seek guidance and support for yourself as needed - the following offices can be consulted:
