GR# 0963 - 'Agreement for Course Design', Office of Open Learning

Collective Agreement referenced: 2014 - 2017

Article(s): 3, 4, 35

Nature of Dispute: The University entered into an unknown number of Agreements for Course Design without the Association’s knowledge in violation of WUFA’s role as the sole bargaining agent. Furthermore, some of these agreements appear to have been contracted out to individuals identified in the Agreement as “individual contractors”.

Result of Grievance: The grievance was resolved at Step 3 of the grievance process. It was determined that any existing 'Agreements for Course Design' are null and void, and that copyright for all materials developed under those said Agreements will be retained by the course designer. The University shall apply Articles 3:04, 5:65, 35, 54:18 and any and all other relevant articles of the Collective Agreement to credit courses delivered through alternative learning technology.

Grievance initiated: April 21, 2017
Grievance resolved: April 30, 2018
